Sophie Rivers
Multidisciplinary artist and educator
I am many things. Always, I am a creator.
I work in paint (made by rivers), film, the written word, movement of the human body.
Through my MA research in devising, ensemble creation, cultural identity and mythology, I have produced work exploring identity through storytelling. I am a visual artist, most notably producing a couple shows at The Gallery on 47th street in Yellowknife in 2024 and 2025, and exhibiting with Summer and Grace gallery (joy iii). I have collaborated with local cafés and indie theatre.
I am a performer, working with Indie theatre companies, short films, commercials, and print.
My interdisciplinary work includes docu-art film, “What else to say?” and continued at the Foot 33 conference in 2025 with "More To Say".
I am an educator and facilitator. I develop and run performance based workshops, working with all ages from youth to adults and various demographics. I am co-Artistic Director of new multidisciplinary theatre collective in Yellowknife NWT, Tin Can Collective. We produced our debut show Degrees of Separation in March 2026.
What is important to me in all my work is connection and community. Thank you for taking the time to look at my work, which is inherently a very vulnerable and important way to connect. I appreciate it.
